About Our Approach
Both Allan and Luisa are skilled professionals who employ a range of therapeutic interventions and strategies to assist you. Depending on your needs we draw on:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques to assist you in dealing with the immediate impacts of your response to issues that are limiting your ability to function effectively. These include focused psychological strategies such as education about the psychology of the mind (psycho-education) and skills training;
Mindfulness techniques such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy to assist you in better managing strong emotions and self-destructive thoughts; and
Well researched and evidence based psychodynamic techniques such as "Self-Psychology", "The Conversational Model" and "Relational Transactional Analysis". These approaches assist you with insight and the ability to sustain personal change.
The journey of mental well-being and personal growth is very much an individual journey. While we as therapists need a model to guide our work with you, your need as the client is for an appropriate response to your individual personality and life experiences. Both Allan and Luisa are absolutely commited to bringing our total experience and skill to assisting you in your unique human journey rather than following a single proscribed model of therapy. In other words while guided by best practice research, we do not believe in or follow a "one size fits all" therapeutic approach.
