Confidentiality

All information you provide as a client of Inner Actions is Strictly Confidential and will not be used for any purpose other than your care. Non-identifying details may be discussed with a professional supervisor to determine better strategies to assist you. If your therapist has cause to be seriously concerned for the safety of you or anyone else, particularly a child, then they have the ethical, professional and legal obligation to consider informing the appropriate agency.

Professional Supervision

Professional supervision is a process put in place to ensure that therapists provide you with the best quality care. To this end, Inner Actions engages an experienced therapist to review our work with clients. This process is undertaken by discussing with that supervisor non-identifying details about the work we are doing with clients. This ensures that a third person is aware of what we are doing, and can offer suggestions for alternative ways of approaching particular issues. A Supervisor is a fellow therapist who is bound by the same ethical and confidentiality rules as ourselves.

Privacy

We work to ensure that your privacy is respected and maintained. The following points outline our formal Privacy Policy.

  1. In the interest of providing you with the best possible care and assistance we will need to collect, record and maintain personal and health information. We will only collect information necessary for the delivery of our services.

  2. We endeavour to keep our records up to date, complete and accurate. While using our services we ask that you advise us of any changes to your personal or health information.

  3. Our records are securely stored and kept for a reasonable period of time after the service is suspended. This maintains records in case of re-engaging our services or if information is sought by or for a third party (under the conditions stated in 5 below).

  4. You have a right to access you own records. To exercise this right please arrange a mutually convenient time with your counsellor.

  5. Subject to 6 below, disclosure of any information to a third party outside Inner Actions will only occur with your written request or with your knowledge and written approval.

  6. As noted under our Confidentiality Statement if we have reason to be concerned for your safety, or the safety of others, we are obliged to disclose this concern to relevant authorities.

  7. In some circumstances courts may subpoena a therapist and/or their notes. Confidentiality and privacy is subject to compliance with court directions.
